A spiritual awakening is an internal process leading to your return to reality which is now being experienced by millions of people in the world. Gradually, step by step, commonly after being exposed to an impulse leading to a crack in some pattern in your life, you start to realize that until now you have not been living in reality, that the way you have seen the world was significantly affected by external programs which were present in your mind. Awakening is a process which gradually leads to letting go of those very often limiting thought patterns and embracing life with your whole being consciously observing and learning yourself.
During the awakening there are numerous realizations coming to you regarding the fact, that a big part of your life has passed while you were living most of that time only in your head, acting according to the known schemes, following something what was not concordant with you and the highest good of your being but only provided you with an illusionary comfort and security. The spiritual awakening leads to reconnecting with your natural state, with divinity. Inner light which starts to shine within you more and more intensely every single day illuminates all that you have been trying to disguise, running away from, or were too scared to face.
Despite the fact, that there are several characteristic symptoms of a spiritual awakening it is a very individual and personal process. There is one thing that is common in those processes – they always lead to an increase in awareness. For some, the very moment of awakening is a sudden, deep insight within connected with lots of understanding. For others, it is an intense wave of wisdom which enables them to identify a repeated life pattern. Another indication of awakening is kind of ending, a collapse of something in your life, what you thought would last forever but ultimately becomes a trigger for your awakening.
There are also multiple experiences connected with a spiritual awakening. There is no one standard scheme which could be applied to everyone. However, the outcome that all of those experiences lead to is always connected to finding your inner truth and living accordingly. At that point you have a choice – do you embrace your truth or do you reject it and come back to your old way of living putting on your old mask, stay in the comfort zone of your ego and give up on yourself?
From the perspective of the rational ego-mind spiritual awakening is understanding enabling you to differentiate between what is true from what is illusory. At the early stages of your journey you will see that a lot of what you see is illusion and together with time and practice you will see that in practice almost everything is illusion. This does not happen overnight – ego-mind could simply not be able to handle an ‘overload’ connected with the amount of insights. To prevent that, the insights are appearing gradually – it is a great example of ‘divine timing’ at play – everything comes to us in a perfect moment, only when we are ready for that. All of that also affects your daily routines. As you are more and more able to spot beauty in simplicity, you are starting to concentrate on unconditional love, truth, unity consciousness and feeling of being connected with other beings, planet and the whole universe. However spiritual awakening is also about ‘letting go’ of illusion, identifying inner unfavorable schemes and convictions, and abandoning the image of yourself that you had. It is a rebirth and learning to live again, in full harmony with the true you.
In spite of the fact that in the early stages awakening may seem to be mainly a mental thing, it affects your whole being –your head, your body, your subtle energy. Having started once, the process lasts. You can try running away from it, however stay assured that it will be back, Running away from it is like running away from yourself. You can trick the whole world but you will never be able to trick yourself.
As I have written before, awakening is a very individual process and it is hard to use any kind of labels here. It is important to remember, that the awakening itself is just a beginning of a long and rocky road which will be really awkward and painful for your ego as gradually it will be getting dissolved until it completely dismantles. A really strong urge to make peace with yourself, heal your whole being, broaden your horizons will appear. Not once, not twice your ego-mind will tell you, that it all happened to you, present it to you as a kind of drama. Be sure – you have agreed upon that, and even if at the present moment it seems ridiculous, please pay special attention to what is currently going on in your life.
Typical symptoms of a true spiritual awakening are:
All of those points seem to be the most important aspects of the awakening however the very last one seems to be crucial. Many people have deep spiritual experiences in form of sudden insights, and it is wonderful. However an insight comes, and goes. When it leaves, it is really easy to move back to your old ways. Your energy field becomes illuminated , however you do not have a constant flow of energy yet so there is nothing that could feed your inner light and it can start to dim. This is why your environment plays so important role in the awakening process. Someone who has not experienced it himself may simply not have a clue of what you are talking about, or negate your experience. In the early part of the journey your mind will be eager to accept all those external opinions as they perfectly suit what it is used to. It is always easier to step back to what you are already familiar with than to make a brave step forward into the unknown. Supportive environment of people who are also awakened give you support and understanding, share their light with you and help you maintain yours. At this stage it is very often far too early to generate self-love.
Those aspects which I have mentioned are only the tip of the iceberg of symptoms connected to the awakening which I have experienced either myself or on which I often work with my customers. I will be writing another article dedicated to the ascension symptoms shortly.
A path to ascension is seemingly exciting and magical from the third person’s perspective. In reality it is not necessarily so nice and pleasant, especially during its initial stages. There are not too many people who are content with their lives and land on the spiritual path. It happens probably only when a person notices that despite reaching certain social or financial status he still does not feel happiness he was seeking.
Far more often it is a failure, life tragedy, or lack of self-realization that pushes people to look within. When you experience a failure, you realize that you do not have anything to lose thus you can enter it by all of you. A spontaneous spiritual awakening is often experienced by people who have never sought any form of spiritual development. A very characteristic element of this scenario is a great amount of healing that is needed during the whole process. One can be said for sure – there are many varied ways that lead to awakening.
Lastly, the basic purpose of spiritual awakening is coming back to a certain level of consciousness that allows you to lead a harmonious life without any fear. Awakening, you will touch the deepest and the most hurt parts of yourself. It will not be fun and easy. However, when you come to a place where you find true love within, you start to realize that it was worth it.
